This Sunday is the 3rd Sunday after Paschal Sunday. In the Extraordinary Form this Sunday, the Introit and Offertory are cries of joy in response to the Resurrection of Our Lord. The Communion is taken from the day's Gospel (Jn. 16:16-22) which is taken from a discourse given by Our Lord to His apostles after the Last Supper on Holy Thursday. The gospel primarily is an anticipation of the joy the apostles will experience at Christ's Resurrection, but it also looks forward to the Ascension which we are approaching.
Ant. Shout with joy to God, all the earth, alleluia! Sing a psalm to His name, alleluia! Give glory to His praise, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!
V. Say unto God, how terrible are Thy works, O Lord! In the multitude of Thy strength, Thine enemies shall lie to Thee.
V. Glory be...
Ant. Praise the Lord, O my soul! I shall praise the Lord in my life; I shall sing a psalm to my God as I shall be, alleluia!
Ant. A little while, and you shall not see Me, alleluia; and again a little while, and you shall see Me, because I go to the Father, alleluia, alleluia!
