3rd Sunday of Paschaltide (Latin OF)

emmaus-icon.png

This Sunday is the 3rd Sunday of Paschaltide. Some of the propers are the same as those of the following Sunday in the Extraordinary Form, but the communion antiphons are distinct, so I have a separate post for the Latin OF propers. Those Latin OF chants that are identical with chants from the EF come from the Liber Usualis, but those chants unique to the OF come from the Gregorian Missal from the Benedictine Abbey at Solemes.

Entrance Antiphon:

Jubilate Deo, omnis terra, alleluia: psalmum dicite nomini eius, alleluia: date gloriam laudi eius, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
— Gregorian Missal (1990); cf. Ps. 65:1,2

Ant. Shout with joy to God, all the earth, alleluia! Sing a psalm to His name, alleluia! Give glory to His praise, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

V. Say unto God, how terrible are Thy works, O Lord, in the multitude of Thy strength Thy enemies shall lie to Thee.

V. Glory be...

Offertory Antiphon:

Lauda, anima mea, Dominum: laudabo Dominum in vita mea: psallam Deo meo, quamdiu ero, alleluia!
— Gregorian Missal (1990); cf. Ps. 145:2

Ant. Praise the Lord, O my soul: I shall praise the Lord in my life. I shall sing a psalm to my God as long as I shall be, alleluia!

Communion Antiphon (Year A):

Surrexit Dominus, et apparuit Petro, alleluia!
— Gregorian Missal (1990); cf. Lk. 24:34

Ant. The Lord has risen and appeared to Peter! Alleluia!

Communion Antiphon (Year B):

Cantate Domino, alleluia: cantate Domino, benedicite nomen eius: bene nuntiate de die in diem salutare eius, alleluia, alleluia.
— Gregorian Missal (1990); cf. Ps. 95:2

Ant. Sing to the Lord, alleluia: sing to the Lord, bless His name; proclaim His salvation day after day, alleluia, alleluia.

Communion Antiphon (Year C):

Simon Joannis, diligis me plus his? Domine, tu omnia nosti: tu scis, Domine, quia amo te. Alleluia!
— Gregorian Missal (1990); cf. Jn. 21:15,17

Ant. "Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?" "Lord, You know all things: You know, O Lord, that I love you. Alleluia!"
