1st Sunday of Advent (English)

This Sunday is the 1st Sunday of Advent: the beginning of the Church’s liturgical year. It is a season of waiting, during which we prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ both at the end of time and at Christmas. Since it concerns preparation for judgment, it is a time of penance, but also of joyful expectation.
